A Heritage of Art, Performance,
And Fulfillment
“To me, the experience of making music is like nothing else in the world. When we create music, it surrounds us and transports us to somewhere new. We can be singing or playing a song in a living room or on a stage, and all of a sudden, we’re canoeing on a gentle river under the warm glow of a moonlight.
All of a sudden, everybody listening is bathed in the moonlight too, or off dreaming in an entirely unique place and time. All of our worries from a moment ago fade away, if for a few blissful minutes. Music brings everyone together like this, floating and reminiscing in our own worlds, yet still together – this is magical. To me, this is the power and joy of music. It’s been a surreal experience for me to be able to share this magic of music with the next generation of learners.”
- Julia Jeesoo Kim, teacher, performer, lover of music

Korean Canadian soprano performer and music educator Julia Kim is a graduate of Masters of Music (M.M.) in Literature and Performance Voice and Honours Bachelor of Music (H.B.M.) in Voice Performance from Western University. She was fortunate to have sung at Summer Opera Lyric Theatre in Toronto, Victoria Conservatory of Music Summer Academy Vocal program in Victoria, and Opera Nuova Intensive Program in Edmonton. In addition to her performing and exceptional training, Julia has been teaching voice, piano, and theory in London, Ontario during the last 8 years.
Like many of her students, Julia began learning music from a young age. She found her passion in music and it soon became her dream to learn and perform music at a professional level. She started in a music specialized school from the age of 12, and her passion took her all through high school and university with classical training. Her mother was a teacher, so Julia grew up watching and becoming inspired, beginning what became her natural and eventual transition from performance into teaching in 2012.
My Story
Practicing, performing, and teaching music over the years has allowed me to appreciate music for far more than just its art. It nurtures an extraordinary skill for us to enjoy and share for a lifetime.
Even more, practicing musical performance helps us learn more about ourselves, open up with confidence, and build meaningful relationships with the people around us. The challenge and joy of making music can guide us to reach our full capabilities and evolve into the individuals we wish to become. I love to watch my students flourish, and it is my passion to share this opportunity and facilitate the next learners through their own journey.
Undoubtedly, one way music can help us grow is in teaching us healthy emotional expression. By acquiring a strong foundation in music, learning to interpret unique perspectives, and then performing with our unique character and voice, we can grow to empathize with broad points of view, enabling us to become more emotionally-intelligent and well-rounded individuals. All of this is possible with caring instruction of a deeper level of musical performance in a supportive and motivating learning environment that we are proud to nurture at our Music Studio.
